Sand and gravel consultation 2012

The main purpose of this consultation stage was to invite comments and suggestions on sand and gravel sites that were promoted for working by mineral operators in response to a ‘call for sites’ that formed part of the Issue and options consultation in 2010.

The key issues and options consultation identified that additional sites for sand and gravel working were likely to be required over the plan period. We already had a large evidence base relating to sand and gravel sites from work on the preparation of a mineral sites development plan document which was abandoned in favour of preparing a replacement minerals local plan.

The consultation therefore sought comments on an overall strategy for the provision of sand and gravel supply and the following promoted sites, which are attached to this page.

Drop-in sessions were held at locations throughout South Derbyshire with officers from the councils in attendance to answer any questions.

The comments received from this consultation will inform future preparation of the minerals local plan.
