This consultation began in April 2015. It included a series of individually prepared consultation strategy papers and their respective supporting papers on a wide variety of mineral related topics and the provision of important minerals. These papers were added to and revised, taking into account comments on a rolling basis over the engagement period which ended in June 2016.
The consultation included papers on:
- the foreword, vision and objectives, spatial portrait and sustainability principles
- general issues such as:
- climate change
- cumulative impacts
- community concerns
- transport
- restoration
- safeguarding
- area-based issues such as:
- reducing quarrying in the PDNP
- river valleys restoration
- carboniferous limestone quarries restoration
- mineral specific issues such as the supply of:
- aggregate crushed rock
- sand and gravel
- building stone
- industrial limestone
- brick clay and fireclay,
- vein minerals
- coal
- hydrocarbons
- other related matters such as:
- site assessment methodology
- site assessments
- duty to cooperate
- sustainability appraisal
Comments made at the consultation stages inform the ongoing development of the minerals local plan.
