Transport policy and planning

Our new Local Transport Plan (LTP) sets out Derbyshire's transport strategy and a path towards transport investment that will result in a more sustainable and healthy transport system, managing carbon emissions and improving public health and safety, which also supports the local and sub-regional economy.

Our current Local Transport Plan (generally known as the third LTP) covers the period up to March 2026.

Strategies and polices

In addition to the Local Transport Plan there are also more detailed transport-related strategies and policies, including the:

• Rights of Way Improvement Plan
• Greenway strategies
• Highway Network Management Plan

Transport studies

We also undertake transport studies in communities, such as the Chesterfield Cycle Network, the Glossop transport and economy project, Ashbourne transport study, and the Derby to Manchester rail line study.

We also assess new development proposals to help minimise transport impacts.

Transport funding bids

We also seek funding from external agencies to support improving our local transport networks.
