Our country parks and countryside sites are open for you to enjoy but please use our sites responsibly.
Make good use of the space available and follow social distancing guidelines. Limit your use of narrow trails and towpaths which impact the 2 metre guidance.
Barbecues are not permitted at any of our sites. This is particularly important during periods of warm weather where there is an increased risk of fire.
We’re doing our best to keep our sites well maintained at this difficult time but you can help by taking any litter and dog poo bags home with you as bin collections will be less frequent than usual.
Car parks at our countryside sites are open. Please pay attention to signage around our sites and do not try to park if car parks are full. Parking charges have now been reinstated.
Toilet facilities are now open at:
- Middleton Top
- High Peak Junction Visitor Centre
- Cromford Wharf
- Tapton Lock (during visitor centre opening hours – generally 10am to 4pm)
- Black Rocks
- Elvaston Castle Country Park grounds (but toilets located at the castle remain closed because it’s not possible to maintain social distancing)
- Shipley Country Park
- Grin Low
Additional cleaning is in place across all these sites.
Toilets at our other sites remain closed and we are working to reopen them in line with health and safety guidance in relation to preventing the spread of coronavirus.
Shops and visitor centres / cycle hire
Visitor centre shop kiosks offering take away refreshments are open at:
- Elvaston Castle Country Park
- Middleton Top – where the cycle hire facility has also reopened
- High Peak Junction
- Tapton Lock
Please note times may vary – contact a centre directly for more information.
Cafés and refreshments
Some ice cream and coffee concessions are operating a takeaway service but some remain closed.
Children’s play areas and outdoor gym equipment
We are carrying out risk assessments on each of our playgrounds and outdoor gym sites to consider whether they can be safely reopened and a decision will be made on a case by case basis.
Facilities at our sites which remain closed include:
- shops and visitor centre at Shipley Country Park
- hire of all-terrain mobility scooters or 'trampers'
- play equipment and outdoor gym equipment
Our programme of events is cancelled until the end of August along with Derbyshire Woodland Festival and Tapton Lock Festival which were both due to be held in September.
