Choosing a school
Every school is different and the best way for you to decide whether a school is right for your child is to go and take a look for yourself.
You can search for a school to check out each school's website. Contact the school to get a prospectus. Or get in touch with the headteacher to organise a look around.
Applying for school places
If you live in Derbyshire you'll apply for school places through us. You'll do this in the year before your child is due to:
- start infant or primary school
- move to junior school
- start secondary school
Sixth forms, colleges and other further education places are handled differently and your child's secondary school will tell you about the options.
Moving schools
You might have just moved to Derbyshire or want your child to change schools other than at the times they move to primary or secondary education.
If you live in Derbyshire we can handle your application for your child to change schools during the school year.
Day-to-day school life
All the information you'll need on the day-to-day of being at school such as school meals, dealing with bullying or becoming a school governor and much more is in our school life section.
Extra support
You might need extra support for your child during the time they are at school.
We have lots of information on the support available if your child has special educational needs.
And we have information on welfare and support if you need advice about behaviour, truancy, exclusions and inclusions.
