Job and person profiles

All vacancies will be advertised using job and person profiles. These will be used only during recruitment to inform applicants about a vacancy. They will describe key result areas rather than detailed tasks and will incorporate relevant information from existing job descriptions, person specifications (if up to date) and job family role profiles.


Once the successful candidate has been appointed, the objectives agreed between the employee and their manager, and overarching job family role profile (a description of the level of the job family they will be working at) will set out what is required within the role.

The job and person profile:

  • supports the implementation of job families
  • communicates simply what the job is and what kind of knowledge, skills and experience a candidate may need
  • supports the setting of objectives linked to job family role profiles
  • provides up to date, relevant recruitment criteria to help applicants and managers make the right recruitment choice
