Work experience at the county council

Working for a large, varied organisation such as ourselves, is a brilliant way to get a realistic insight into the world of work.

And there's a huge variety of roles where we're able to host work experience and placements for young people.

Work experience is a way that we can support you and your aspirations and achievements. We can develop your self confidence, and help influence your plans for the future.

We're committed to supporting and providing high quality work experience and placement opportunities regardless of your gender, ethnicity, religion, culture, disability or sexual orientation.

Please make sure you carefully consider the following points before you make your application:

We'll always do our best to support every application but unfortunately we can't accept all requests due to the large number we receive.

Joined Up Careers

If you’re interested in learning more about the health and social care sector, Joined Up Care Derbyshire (a partnership between local authorities, the NHS and the voluntary sector) has launched a new ‘virtual work experience’ platform.

The 3.5 hour virtual learning can be taken in your own time and offers a certificate of completion. It covers everything from an introduction to the sector to different areas and responsibilities within health and care professions. You will have the chance to take part in a quiz and hear from professionals about what their job is really like.
