Dignity and respect
Treating people with dignity and respect is one of our core values. In 2011 we set up the Derbyshire Dignity Campaign to demonstrate our commitment to dignity and to encourage independent care service providers to do the same.
Social care inspections
Many of the services that we provide are regulated by Care Quality Commission (CQC). To make sure services meet industry standards, CQC carries out both regular announced and unannounced inspections.
Inspected services include our care homes and home care services.
All the inspection reports for our services are available on the CQC website.
Derbyshire Local Account
Every year we must produce a report to tell you how we have delivered our services over the last year. This is called the 'Local Account' and is a requirement which shows what we are doing well and where we need to improve. The latest Local Account report is attached to this page.
Data protection
To provide you with the services you need, we have to collect information about your personal circumstances.
We'll make sure that the details we hold about you are accurate and we'll only hold the information that we need. We'll also keep your personal information safe and will ask your permission if we need to share it with other organisations.
You can find out more about how our staff look after your personal information.
Accessing your record
You can make a subject access request if you want a copy of the personal information that we hold about you. If you wish to access the records of someone who has died, there is a different process to follow.
The fact sheet and forms attached to this page explain more about the process.
Freedom of Information
The Freedom of Information Act 2000 gave the public the right to request access to recorded information held by public authorities. The act is aimed at improving openness and accessibility.
If you request information you have the right to be told whether that information is held. If it is, it should be made available within 20 days. There may be circumstances where the information can't be provided but the reason should be explained to you in full.
