Unstone Line
This nature reserve used to be a mineral railway line and is a great place for a quiet walk.
Barbecues are not permitted at any of our sites.
The Unstone Line was a mineral line, used to carry coal from the Unstone mines. You'll see the remains of railway arches and mine buildings. Although nature has now taken over you can still imagine the trucks trundling along the line.
We now manage the line as a nature reserve. In the spring the ponds by the boardwalk are alive with frogs and newts. Look out for wildflowers in the woodland and stop and listen for birdsong. What can you hear?
