It starts in the heart of the Peak District and runs north to the moors of the South Pennines where it joins the 47 mile Mary Towneley Loop.
When complete the route will be 350 miles long weaving through the Pennines from Derbyshire to Northumberland using a mix of ancient pack horse tracks, drove roads and newly created bridleways.
The trail will be available for walkers, cyclists and horse riders. There are no stiles or steps just easy to use gates, special road crossing points and a well sign posted route.
The route is still being developed around the Glossop area.
Horse riders are advised to follow the route from Hartington Station as far as Hayfield, from here it is recommended to use a horse box and pick the route up again at the Torside car park in Longendale.
