"As we approach Timber Lane, to our right there is Timber Lane car park, down to our left, a little further on is Broomridding wood. And this wood is a semi-ancient woodland and has been here longer than the railway has in fact. And in fact must have been rather larger than what it is now of its 13 acres because the Clay Cross Company when that first started they used to collect the timber from here to burn down at the works for charcoal and fuel. The timber used would have been mainly hazel. The woodland itself is privately owned. It does have a very nice showing of bluebells which can be viewed from the side of the trail and/or from the footpath that runs on the northern side of the wood itself."
