"Once the railways were finished being used in the 1960s, 70s and 80s at various points along the trail, unfortunately the railway lines were taken up and the old tunnels and bridges were all filled in, which meant that it was difficult for people to get from one side of the road to the other. They had to scramble up the embankments until some old steps were put in and the old steps, they deteriorated, until you now see this very nice path that was created in 2010. At this point the road leads to a beautiful little hamlet called Norwood.
"There, there is perhaps only about 6 very well kept houses, however if you carry on through the village, which you had to do by foot, once you get to the other side of the village you go through into, what is called Lady Spencer's Wood, and at the other side of the wood you emerge into the grounds of Hardwick Hall which is known of course for the home of good old Bess of Hardwick."
