"Brierley Forest Park contains a sculpture trail, which was created in 1999. The project involved 9 artists working with community groups and local school, creating art pieces that responded to the landscape and the heritage of the park. The trail includes a stone seat carved with poetry by Benjamin Zaphaniah, bronze iron wildlife arch, 5 oak figures of miners, depicting the decline of the local coal industry, a seat that reflects the aspirations of the local children, pine cones that reference the area's textile heritage, and the wall hanging for the visitor centre that is made from recycled tea bags. As part of the national changing places projects, a sculpture was also installed next to the lake. The art was produced by Andrew McEwan and depicts a giant seed emerging from an old and broken industrial mould, symbolising rebirth."
