The primary school application process

To apply for a primary school place for your child you'll need to follow the application process.

Here we explain what you need to do to make an application and what we'll do to reach a decision.

You'll need to complete a school admissions application form. We invite you to state 3 preferences for any primary, infant or junior school.

We ask you to put your preferences in priority order, with your most preferred school first.

The closing date is midnight on 15 January 2025.

What happens to your application

All applications are considered against each school's published admission number (the number of places available in the year group).

If there are more applications than there are places available at a school, places will be allocated according to the school's published admissions criteria.

If a child can be offered a place at more than one school, then a place will be offered at the highest priority school possible.

If you apply online you'll receive an email on 16 April 2025 with the allocated school place.

If you don't provide an email address, your offer will be posted second class.
