Our planning services function is a professional service providing high quality output in a highly technical field of planning delivering our statutory regulatory planning function for minerals, waste and our own development. It's also a statutory consultee for the Derbyshire local planning authorities supporting their local plans and commenting on strategic planning and infrastructure matters through the planning application process and is a statutory 'interested party' for schemes that are considered under development consent order process for nationally significant infrastructure projects.
Planning has a vital role to play in securing the long-term wellbeing of our communities within Derbyshire through the delivery of sustainable development. Planning is a mechanism by which we seek to protect and enhance our environment, while at the same time allowing development necessary for our economic and social wellbeing.
Although planning is technical in nature, it operates in a high-profile political environment. It's at the forefront of shaping social, economic and environmental development, prosperity and wellbeing across the county.
Officers from planning services work alongside many different partners and stakeholders, achieving the fine balance between regulation and facilitation, managing the many competing demands but all the while securing the best possible outcomes for communities and businesses.
At the heart of planning services is a positive matrix management approach to delivering our priorities. This approach of delivery was recognised by the Royal Town Planning Institute and the service was awarded the East Midlands Planning Team of the Year in 2019 and was National Finalist in Planning Excellence in 2020.
Our small team is made up of passionate and skilled experts in the field of resource and waste management. We're looking to grow our capacity and bring in new talents, ideas and perspectives to help drive the service forward.
If you want to be part of this then we want to speak to you.
