Kick-start your career with a health and social care apprenticeship

Are you looking for a new challenge? Would you like to earn and learn your way up the career ladder?

care workers

There's never been a better time to build a career in health and social care.

We're offering apprentice opportunities in our residential, day care and extra care establishments around the county.

What skills do I need?

You don't need any formal qualifications before you start, and you'll have the opportunity to develop your skills through on-the-job learning and training.

You can be an apprentice at any age – and although previous experience isn't necessary understanding the needs of older people, including those with dementia, is an important part of the work.

You'll be working 37 hours a week with some flexibility around start and finish times.

About the role

As a health and social care apprentice you'll be supporting people to lead fulfilled and dignified lives by providing care to suit their needs.

You'll be part of a team ensuring people remain as independent as possible supporting them with everyday tasks and activities such as washing, dressing, eating meals, maintaining interests or hobbies and staying socially active.

Support

You'll have ongoing support and mentoring from our experienced staff and after completing the 15-month training you'll receive a Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care. We'll also be there to help you access a variety of job opportunities once you're done.

Benefits

We pay the National Minimum Wage for your age – which is more than the apprenticeship rate – and as well as 25 days paid holiday, we'll take care of the uniform and all the training you'll need free of charge.

What our current care workers say about their role

Our care staff come from all kinds of different backgrounds but are united by one thing – they love the rewarding work they do.

Lynsey, care worker said:

"Every day makes me feel proud, because I know I've helped someone to stay at home"

Progressing with us

There are lots of different paths you can take to move up the health and social care ladder and we will offer you guidance and support all the way. For example, you could progress from an apprentice to a care worker, then senior care worker.

Some of our employees have also progressed onto a deputy unit manager, unit manager, and group manager, where your role would be to oversee care services in the residential care homes. Imagine the positive difference you could make to so many lives in the Derbyshire area!

Sounds like a great opportunity – how to get involved

If you think you could make a positive difference to an older or disabled person's life and would like the chance to be part of our valued, dynamic teams of care staff keeping people happy, healthy and well we want to hear from you. You can apply for an apprenticeship.
