Access your information

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA) give individuals the right to obtain a copy of their personal information as well as other supplementary information.  This is commonly referred to as a right of subject access.

If you make a subject access request (SAR) we are legally obliged to respond and provide you with the information it holds about you within a specified time period, in most cases this will be within 1 month.

If we refuse your request on the basis of an exemption we will provide you with a justification for this decision. You are entitled to ask for an internal review of such a decision and may also make a complaint to the Information Commissioneror seek to enforce your right of access through a judicial remedy.

In addition to providing you with a copy of your data, you are also entitled to be provided with:

  • the purposes of our processing
  • the categories of personal data concerned
  • the recipients or categories of recipient you disclose personal data to
  • how long the data is kept for, or likely to be kept for
  • information about where the data came from (if not directly from you)
  • safeguards taken if your data is transferred outside the UK
