Working in public health

If you are enthusiastic about the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle, and you’ve got good communication skills, a work experience placement in our public health service could be ideal for you.


During your placement you’d be working with our public health workers to help people in the community to improve their general health and wellbeing.

This may include working with public health employees on projects:

  • to improve the amount of exercise people take
  • to help people stop smoking
  • to show the positive effects of lowering alcohol intake
  • to show the benefits of breastfeeding
  • to improve access to healthy lifestyles in communities with the greatest need

You’ll learn about health promotion and effective communication skills and the benefits of healthy lifestyle choices.
