Roads and highways enforcements
We have a duty to protect public rights on the road network ensuring they are free from nuisance, danger, obstructions, unlawful closure, interference and encroachment. The effectiveness of this legislation in protecting the public is dependent on the compliance of others.
Where there is clear evidence that businesses and individuals may be breaching the law relating to highways, we would initially aim to give informal advice without unnecessary expense or hardship. However, ultimately, firm action will be taken against those who disregard the law.
