Young drivers

Twenty-five percent of all collisions in Derbyshire involve a young car driver aged 17 to 25 years.

We know that a young person's attitude towards driving will shape their behaviour behind the wheel, giving them information about safer driving techniques and positive attitudes towards driving, before they develop bad driving habits, will lead them to become safer drivers.

We offer a number of courses to young and pre-drivers.

'First Gear' pre-driver training

We run pre-driver training courses for 16-year-olds living or in education in Derbyshire. First Gear gives trainees their first experience behind the wheel of a car in a safe, controlled environment with fully qualified driving instructors.
