Bus passes - concessionary fares schemes

We provide concessionary fares schemes for certain residents of Derbyshire.

These schemes are jointly funded by Derbyshire County Council and Derby City Council.

Older and disabled persons

Residents of Derbyshire and Derby who qualify by age or disability can apply for a Gold Card, which is valid for free travel on buses between 9:30am and 11pm on weekdays and all day at weekends.

Gold Card holders are also entitled to free local bus travel in the rest of England, under the English National Concessionary Travel Scheme. The same time restrictions apply. Train travel is not included in this scheme.

Holders of Gold Cards are also offered discounts at hundreds of businesses around Derbyshire. For more information visit our Gold Card section or contact Call Derbyshire tel: 01629 533190.

Young people

All young people living in Derbyshire aged 16 up to their 19th birthday are entitled to a b_line2 card which gives reduced fare travel on local buses and trains and other discounts too. In most cases these are issued by schools.

Apprentices, young people attending college or on training courses and those at work or looking for work and aged under 19 need to make their own application for a b_line2 card.

The b_line scheme covers all bus journeys within Derby and Derbyshire, and journeys between Derbyshire and places in neighbouring counties which can be made on a direct journey (without a change of bus). The concession is available every day and at all times of the day.

Find out more b_line information and an application form or contact Call Derbyshire, tel: 01629 533190.

Home-to-school transport

Some Derbyshire school children are entitled to free transport to and from school.
