What the inspectors said
Inspectors very much enjoyed spending time with our social workers who they described as keen, energised, committed to working in Derbyshire and demonstrating high morale.
Our leadership team understands the service well and creates an environment where staff are valued and listened to.
Our workforce development plan focuses on retaining experienced social workers and introducing practice supervisors to help develop skills and career progression for inexperienced social workers.
Appropriate plans are underway to provide more support to social workers to increase capacity and reduce caseloads.
What our children's services leadership team said
The findings that stand out for us are evidence of a strong commitment to continue to improve outcomes for children in Derbyshire – a strong theme throughout our services – and that inspectors recognise we’re working hard to provide the right conditions in which good social work can flourish.
We’re very proud of our team and the hard work we all do to keep children in Derbyshire safe and give them the best possible opportunities in life.
The job can be challenging at times and we are continually working hard to adapt to new challenges and an ever-increasing demand for our services, but the rewards are evident in the many positive outcomes for the children and families who need us and who are at the heart of everything we do.
