Carers week

There are several events taking place to mark Carers Week 2024.


The national campaign starts on Monday 10 June 2024 and aims to raise awareness of the support available for unpaid carers and the huge contribution they make to their families, communities and society.

Events for Derbyshire residents

Events in Derbyshire for unpaid carers during carers week hosted by Derbyshire All Age Carers Support Service (DAACSS) include:

Places are limited and booking is essential for all events. To access the events and activities, you’ll need to be a carer and registered with the Derbyshire All Age Carers Support Service.

Our Derbyshire All Age Carers Support Service – which is delivered by Derbyshire Carers Association on our behalf – includes:

  • an information and advice helpline
  • face to face, home visits and telephone support
  • planning for emergencies
  • support groups
  • carer’s assessments
  • skills for caring
  • financial advice and grants
  • social activities and events
  • volunteering and more

A carer is anyone including children and adults who provide unpaid support with day to day living tasks or personal care to a family member, partner, or friend.

The person they care for could be ill, frail, suffers from a physical or mental health condition or impairment, is autistic, living with dementia, drug, or alcohol dependent.

Events for Derby residents

  • Fortnightly chair Pilates class: Tuesday 11 June 2024, 10.30am to 11.30am, Derby Arena, Royal Way, Derby, DE24 8JB. Both carers and cared for are welcome.
  • Dementia friendly screening of Funny Face: Tuesday 11 June 2024, 1pm, Derby Quad, Market Place Cathedral Quarter, Market Place, Derby, DE1 3AS. Both carers and cared for are welcome.
  • Line dancing and social gathering: Wednesday 12 June 2024, 6pm to 8pm, Derby Deda, 19 Chapel Street, Derby, DE1 3GU. Both carers and cared for are welcome. Hot drinks and light food will be provided.
  • Kedleston Hall visit for carers only: Friday 14 June 2024, 11am to 2pm, National Trust Kedleston Hall Site, DE22 5JH. Hot drinks and cake will be provided.
  • Paint a Pot: Saturday 15 June 2024, 10.45am to 12.45pm and 2.45pm to 4.45pm, Markeaton Park, Markeaton Lane, Derby, DE22 4AA. Both carers and cared for are welcome. Places are limited.
  • Cricket match at Derbyshire County Ground: Sunday 16 June 2024, midday onwards: The Blaze v South East Stars. Both carers and cared for are welcome.
