Have your say on our residential care and day centres
People tell us they want to live at home independently for as long as they can, which is leading to a decline in demand for traditional residential care.
Those going into care are often frailer and have more complex needs, such as dementia, and require more specialist care.
We've always prided ourselves on being well-managed, balancing our books from year to year, but like all other councils across the country we’re facing increasing financial pressures that are outside our control.
At a time of increasing financial pressures and increasing demand for services, particularly for children and older people, we need to review to what extent we provide these services directly and are consulting on 2 options designed to increase support for people with dementia and their carers.
Direct consultation will be held with our care home residents and people who use our day centres, along with their families and carers.
An online questionnaire is also available on our website and a series of public drop-in sessions are being held at Derbyshire libraries where people can give their views or get help to fill in the questionnaire.
