Derbyshire and Derby Minerals Local Plan - Winter 2021 to 2022

Status: Closed

Opens: 2 March 2022 - Closes: 29 April 2022

What this consultation is about

We are seeking your views on the latest stage in the preparation of the Derbyshire and Derby Minerals Local Plan.

The Minerals Local Plan, when finalised, will be the main document that we use to assess planning proposals for mineral development to decide whether they should be granted or refused planning permission.

The consultation consists of the proposed draft plan and a number of other supporting documents.

The proposed draft plan covers the geographical county of Derbyshire, excluding that part which lies within the Peak District National Park. The plan period is to 2038. The plan sets out its strategic priorities for minerals development through its vision and objectives. It includes strategic policies to address those priorities, including policies to enable the supply of important minerals and, where necessary, it identifies specific sites for mineral working.

The plan also includes a set of non-strategic development management policies aimed at avoiding, minimising and mitigating the adverse impacts of minerals development.

Other consultation documents include:

  • background papers - providing additional detail on minerals / topic areas
  • development papers - providing details of how the Plan has been developed
  • schedule of representations - providing details of comments received on previous consultation stages
  • duty to cooperate draft statement of common ground - providing details of the strategic cross boundary issues identified and progress with the relevant parties in cooperating to address them
  • assessments - providing details of assessments undertaken on the plan including:
    • sustainability appraisals
    • strategic transport assessment
    • habitats regulations assessment
    • strategic flood risk assessment
    • sand and gravel site assessments
