Archaeological archives

Records from archaeological investigations of Derbyshire sites should be deposited in accordance with our procedures for the deposition of archaeological archives.

Complete a deposit request form

The procedures for the deposition of archaeological archives can be provided by the county archaeologist.

In accordance with these procedures, we accept:

  • material relating to historic building recording
  • published reports for the local studies collection

We do not accept digital archaeology records. These should be deposited with the Archaeological Data Service.

We do not issue accession numbers in advance, or require material to be pre-boxed. When you deposit material with us, we'll give you an accession number when the material is received, and we'll use our own boxes to store the archive.

If you have material which should be deposited with us, you can complete a deposit request form.

Please do not bring in any material without contacting us first, as we may not be able to help you on that day.
