Census and statistics at Chesterfield local studies library

At Chesterfield Local Studies Library we keep Census enumerators' returns for all the northern part of Derbyshire. They are held on microfilm from 1841 to 1901.

There are name indexes to Derbyshire for 1851, 1861 and 1891.

Statistical profiles from the census are available for electoral wards and parishes in the district councils of Chesterfield, Bolsover and North East Derbyshire.

All Derbyshire libraries offer free access to the Ancestry website, with Census returns for all of England and Wales from 1841.
