Story and rhyme times

It’s never too early to start sharing stories and rhymes with your baby or toddler.

Story and rhyme times

It's fun and there are lots of added benefits:

  • your baby or toddler will develop an early love of language
  • your child will develop listening skills
  • it will lay a firm foundation for learning to read
  • it will inspire your child’s imagination.

Library story and rhyme times are an ideal opportunity to enjoy stories, rhymes and songs with other children, parents and carers.

As well as being a fun way for your child to mix socially with other children, it will encourage a lifelong love of books from an early age with a mix of old and new favourites.

Story and rhyme sessions for under-fives are held in many of our libraries. The latest timetable is attached to this page.
