Report fly-tipping or illegal waste dumping
We're responsible for ensuring that the highway is safe for its users.
The district and borough councils are responsible for sweeping the road, the removal of abandoned vehicles, dealing with dog fouling, fly tipping and the clearing of litter from the road and verges. Please contact the relevant district or borough council:
Fines and prosecution
Offenders can, and will, be prosecuted. Once they're caught it could mean a fine of up to £50,000 or 12 months in prison.
But that's not all. Did you know that if your rubbish is fly-tipped you could also be prosecuted – even if you didn't dump it or know it was going to be dumped.
To make sure you stay on the right side of the law – and avoid a fine of up to £5,000 – use a registered waste carrier if you've got rubbish that needs removing.
You can find a registered waste carrier near you or telephone: 03708 506 506.
