Compost while you cook

Did you know that you can compost while you cook? Take a look at our top tips on how to do so.

Whether you're an amateur chef or the kind of person who just eats to live, you can help the environment by composting while you cook.

Brian Turner shows you how easy it is to cut down on the rubbish sent to landfill in our short film.

Collect your vegetable peelings, tea bags, egg boxes, eggshells, coffee grounds, filter papers, old flowers and kitchen paper in a kitchen caddy on your worktop. You could even keep a small bin just for compostable waste.

The contents can then be moved to your garden compost bin. Some district or borough councils offer a food waste collection. Please contact them for further information.

We have teamed up with Evengreener to offer residents compost bins at very reasonable prices. You could buy a kitchen caddy at the same time as you buy a compost bin.
