Conservation areas

We provide advice on the conservation of nearly 300 conservation areas in Derbyshire.

A conservation area is 'an area of special architectural or historic interest the character or appearance of which it is desirable to preserve or enhance'.

They can, for example, include parts of towns, whole villages or an historic landscape surrounding a country house and its related buildings.

We provide advice for councils, developers, amenity groups and the public on historic building and other conservation area matters.
