What's new this season

Our festival of learning activities will be taking place this June around the county, along the theme of 'be a better you'.

As part of the celebrations we are offering a series of free and low cost taster courses to give you a flavour of what adult community education is about, try out something you are considering learning further or to simply have a bit of fun!

Activities happening around the county confirmed so far are listed.

Derbyshire Dales

Be a better you – a carousel of herbal remedies, painting flowers with impact, mindfulness and healthy pizza making activities at Derbyshire Eco Centre (£20).

Art or yoga for relaxation (Ashbourne).

Recycling crafts or Mandarin (Matlock)

High Peak

Brain food: healthy eating for work or school, doodling to de-stress, or time out with herbs (Buxton Fairfield).

Pilates for health (£5, £4, £1) (Buxton).

North East area

Card making for using recycled materials, gift wrapping for all occasions (floristry), aromatherapy for health and wellbeing, Spanish for beginners, or design and make a beach bag (Bolsover).

Flowers for wellbeing (£15) (Bolsover).

Sewing crafts – character doorstop (£10) (Bolsover).

Amber Valley and South Normanton

British Sign Language, cookery (artisan bread or go vegan), English for speakers of other languages, get the most out of your digital camera, step up to GCSE English, or yoga (Alfreton).

Art for wellbeing (Ripley, Codnor).

Computers: explore your summer holiday, creative writing, explore resilience through craft, stress busting (South Normanton).


British Sign Language, English for speakers of other Languages, floristry, holiday Italian and Spanish, step up to GCSE English and maths (Long Eaton).

Computers for work skills, floristry, holiday Spanish (Cotmanhay and Ilkeston).

South Derbyshire district

British Sign Language, English for speakers of other languages, floristry, paper craft, step up to GCSE maths and summer hand tied floral gifts (Swadlincote).
