From April eligible working parents of 2-year-olds will be able to access 15 hours of early years funding. To ensure they can access this new funding during the summer term, parents have until Sunday 31 March to check their eligibility and apply.
The changes mean there are now 2 government-funded offers for parents of 2-year-olds – the existing offer of 15 hours funded childcare for families on a low income or certain benefits, and the new offer from April of 15 hours for eligible working parents.
We are supporting parents through the introduction of the expanded service locally and have updated information on our website in 2 clear sections where families can also check their eligibility and apply.
Cabinet Member for Families and Children Councillor Julie Patten said:
“Juggling work and home life can be a difficult balancing act – especially if you have young children to look after too.
“This funding expansion is designed to make life a bit easier and open up opportunities for parents and we’re keen to support parents through the new system and help them check if they could benefit.
“Even if you don’t think this scheme applies to you it’s new and you could be missing support you’re entitled to. I’d urge all working families to log on and check their eligibility and apply before the deadline at the end of the month.”
You can check your eligibility and apply for funded childcare for your 2-year-old
