Residents urged to use cut price Derbyshire Wayfarer bus tickets

Published: 9 October 2023

Derbyshire residents are being urged to take advantage of a newly discounted weekly bus ticket.

The new weekly Derbyshire Wayfarer Bus 7-day ticket offers unlimited bus travel throughout the county for the price of £21 per adult, and £16 for b_line card holders, from 1 October 2023 until 31 March 2024. The ticket is ideal for commuters who use 2 or more different buses to get to their destination.

Derbyshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Highways Assets and Transport, Councillor Charlotte Cupit said:

“I’m delighted that we can offer these discounted tickets.

“The funding for these offers comes from the government from the Bus Service Improvement Plan money the council was awarded to improve bus services in the county and ticketing offers like this are one of several measures to do just that.

“We hope that this discounted price will encourage more people to give the bus a go.”

Roads Minister Richard Holden said:

“People up and down the country deserve a modern, reliable, and affordable public transport system. That is why we have provided Derbyshire County Council with over £47 million to boost its bus services.

“Supporting the council with introducing the new Derbyshire Wayfarer Bus 7-day ticket is fantastic for local residents, who will now be able to save money and get to work, attend medical appointments and visit loved ones for less.”

The 7-day tickets are only available online to load onto smart cards. Find more information from TravelMaster.
