Maintenance work at Bretby Household Waste Recycling Centre

Published: 4 September 2024

Residents using our household waste recycling centre at Bretby are being advised to leave extra time for their visit while maintenance work is carried out at the centre from Monday (9 September 2024).

Resurfacing work is being carried out in the loading area used by HGVs which take the waste and recycling away from the centre located on Main Street in Newhall.

People using the recycling centre are being advised to expect delays as the area for parking will be reduced and some short closures will be needed when HGVs need to move around the site.

The recycling centre is currently open 8.30am to 6pm every day, except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. Visitors may wish to consider using the site at times which are usually quieter between 11am and 2pm.

Work to improve the HGV area is expected to be complete by 25 October 2024.

Our Cabinet Member for Infrastructure and Environment, Councillor Carolyn Renwick said:

“This is essential work to maintain our household waste recycling centre in Bretby to ensure we can continue to offer an efficient service.”

“We apologise for any inconvenience which may be caused by any delays which might occur as a result and urge visitors to please bear with us while this work is carried out.”
