Have your say today in ‘Your Council Your Voice’ survey

Published: 22 November 2023

Our annual survey giving residents the opportunity to help shape our budget for 2024 to 2025 and have their say about the services they use is already half-way through.

Our annual 'Your Council Your Voice' survey was launched at the beginning of November and is open for 6 weeks until Sunday 17 December 2023.

Nearly 1,500 Derbyshire residents have already had their say by completing the survey and there’s still time for people to get involved and fill it the Your Council Your Voice Survey 2023.

The survey has 16 main questions asking for views on where residents think we should prioritise spending, how satisfied they are with our services and which ones are most important to them, least important to them, and why.

Those taking part are also asked for views and ideas as to how we could save money or raise additional revenue.

Council Leader Councillor Barry Lewis said:

“As with households and businesses across the country, the council is not immune from the current difficult economic situation.

“While we have always been a well-managed, efficient and financially stable council, the reality is that the financial pressures we are facing are greater than ever experienced before, with most of these pressures being simply outside our control.

“We have recently reported that progress has been made on a forecast overspend for the current financial year which has reduced from £46.4million to £33million, and strict cost-control measures remain in place across the authority. This is running alongside the work we are doing towards setting our budget for 2024 to 2025.

“This continuing challenging financial situation makes it more important than ever that Derbyshire residents take part in this year’s Your Council Your Voice survey and help us to shape our budget and give us their views on where they think we should prioritise spending.”

Cabinet will consider the survey responses relating to the budget, along with budget proposals at a meeting in early February 2024 before the budget is considered by Full Council later in the same month.

Derbyshire residents will be given the chance to have their say about individual proposals which may affect them as they are put forward over the coming months.

Responses relating to non-budget issues in the Your Council Your Voice survey will be used to help shape and improve council services in the year ahead.
