Alfreton play area opens to the community

Published: 6 October 2023

A new play area in Alfreton has been opened to the community.

The project, which we funded, includes a playhouse, roundabouts, wobble boards, basket swing, zip wire, and a range of multi-play equipment.

The new outdoor play facility was part of the wider project to provide a new building for Alfreton Park School which was officially opened in spring last year.

Cllr Alex Dale, Cabinet Member for Education, said:

“I’m really pleased that the park is now available to the local community.

Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, including complex legal issues, there have been delays finalising the park and we apologise that it could not be made ready ahead of the summer break.

We’ve been working hard behind the scenes and whilst the land transfer is still ongoing, we wanted to make the space available as soon as possible.

“The park was part of a wider project to bring significant improvements to the area and I hope the community can enjoy the space for many years to come.”
