What this consultation is about
Finding the most appropriate support or activities for your child or young person is important.
We have a framework of providers in place to help identify and arrange services for disabled children, young people and families needing support. The framework is a list of organisations that can provide certain kinds of support and activities.
A short break may be arranged following an assessment that identifies a need for parents and carers to have a break from their caring role or to give a disabled child or young person time away from their parents and carers relaxing, having fun with friends and enjoyable experiences away from their primary carers.
Many young disabled people and their families choose to arrange their own support using direct payments or personal budgets. Families can choose to buy services from a framework provider if they wish to. The framework helps these families find out what's available and that providers meet certain quality standards.
The current framework arrangements are due to end on 31 October 2020 and we want your views on the activities and services future arrangements should include.
The survey will also inform our short break statement.
