What this consultation is about
In 2019 we asked local groups and organisations to come forward and work with us to make our plans to transfer 20 out of 45 libraries to communities a reality. A number of groups have come forward and are now working with us on building business cases to show their ideas are sustainable in the long-term.
It was agreed by Cabinet in December 2018 that the opening hours at 25 of our libraries would change and any of the 20 libraries who did not have an initial expression of interest from the community would have their opening hours reduced in line with the proposals outlined in the Library Strategy.
The reduction to opening hours is an important part of the Derbyshire Library Service Strategy, and will contribute to the £1.6 million the library service must save by the end of 2021.
Paper copies of the consultation will also be available from Whaley Bridge Library during the consultation period.
