What this consultation is about
Have you experienced being assessed under the Mental Health Act or do you care for someone who has been assessed?
We know this can be, and often is, a distressing experience for the person and family involved. So, it’s important that it is carried out in a way that reduces that distress as much as possible. We also know that people wish to avoid becoming so unwell that they need to be assessed so we're asking questions about what might have prevented it for you.
All information will be anonymised. The information will be used to help mental health services prevent the need for assessments whenever possible. It will also be used to help improve practise for professionals involved in Mental Health Act assessments when that has become necessary.
If you'd like to give your experience but need some support to complete this survey, please tel: 01629 531307 and leave a message. One of the Stakeholder Engagement Team will ring you back and help you to complete it.
If you're a carer or family member who has been involved in an assessment please answer the questions from your perspective.
If you've had a Mental Health Act Assessment in the last year or supported someone through this process, we'd welcome your help. Please complete the short online survey to let us know your views.
