A privacy notice tells you how we use your personal data, such as your name and where you live, so you know what happens to it when you give it to us.
We offer lots of services to people who live and work in Derbyshire, such as helping you with your bus journey from home to school and back again.
Personal data
Personal data is anything that can identify you. You might know this could be things like your name or a photo of you, but it is also things like your email address, mobile telephone number or even your gamertag.
Reason we need you personal data
The main reason we need to use your personal data is to know who you are so that we can help you get your b_line card. If we don’t have your personal data it could mean you miss out on getting a b_line card and all the other things it can do for you.
How we use your personal data
Just because we have your personal data, it doesn’t mean we can do what we want with it, we have to follow some rules.
If we are using any of your data, we make sure we are following all the rules, which are on our privacy notice for parents and guardians.
Sometimes in order to do our work we have to share your personal data with other people. We’re always very careful about how we do this, meaning there are even more rules.
We do not make the b_line card ourselves, this is done by someone else, so we have to share your details with them so that they can make a card with your name and photograph on it. They will then post it to your home.
We keep your personal data in a computer, just in case you need another one.
We do our very best to keep your information safe at all times.
Amount of time we will hold your personal data
We only keep your personal data for as long as we need it and sometimes this might be until you leave school.
There are times we have to follow rules about how long we can keep your personal data, and we have a rule that tells you how long we can keep it called a >retention policy.
You have a say in what happens to your personal data
You have what we call 'rights' when we use your data. One of these is the right to know what we do with it. That's what this page is for.
You can ask us to tell you what personal data we have about you, or if we will stop using it or delete it. If your personal data is wrong, you can tell us and we will fix it.
Protecting your personal data
We have someone in the council called our Data Protection Officer, and their job is to protect your data. They make sure we are following all the rules, and your data is kept safe. If they see something wrong, they tell us how we can fix it.
Because of how important it is to keep your data safe, and to follow all the rules, you can email or write a letter to our Data Protection Officer if you are worried about what we do:
There is also someone called the Information Commissioner whose job it is to make sure we follow the rules, and can tell us off if we do things wrong but you should always speak to us first.
