About Derbyshire
Derbyshire is a beautiful place in the middle of England. Just under one million people live here.
You may be staying in one of our busy market towns. Or you might be living in a rural village surrounded by our stunning countryside. But wherever you’re staying we’re sure you’ll find our county to be a place full of kind and compassionate people.
Our largest town is Chesterfield in the north east of the county and in the south you’ll find the city of Derby.
There are good road and rail links connecting our towns and villages and our neighbours including Sheffield, Yorkshire and Manchester to the north, Nottinghamshire to the east, Staffordshire and Cheshire to the west and Leicestershire to the south.
Our nearest airports are East Midlands Airport and Manchester.
Keeping you safe and well
We’ll work with the police, our national health service (NHS), the local council in your area and other organisations to keep you safe. This includes carrying out checks on all adults in your host households to make sure there are no known reasons why they shouldn’t host a Ukrainian family. We will also visit your accommodation to carry out a brief inspection.

Taking care of your needs
We’re sure you’ve got lots of questions about your new surroundings and the Derbyshire way of life.
Your host family are here to help you and should be your first point of contact for support to settle in.
We are providing hosts with a support pack full of information to help them to help you.
Read information in the support pack.
The pack includes information about things like finance and benefits, health services, education, getting help for children and adults, emergency services and connecting with the local community.
