Aims
We are a group of like-minded people who meet regularly to share views, enjoy entertainment and exchange information with a variety of guest speakers. We cover the 50+ communities for Ilkeston and the surrounding district within the borough of Erewash. We have a growing membership which is currently in excess of 300.
Achievements
In the last few years we have held a number of informative open events for our members with invited speakers from a number of different organisations including the Derbyshire Handy Van scheme, Age UK Derby and Derbyshire (Scams Awareness), The Medaille Trust (supporting people out of human trafficking), local historical and environmental organisations.
We also produced a book containing members favourite recipes, all beautifully illustrated by our previous chair's granddaughter. The book was a local bestseller!
What we're doing
In addition to our quarterly open forum meetings, we organise regular trips out for our members to places such as Bletchley Park, Warwick Castle, Chatsworth House and the Christmas Market at Ripon Retail Park.
Every year we host a stall at Ilkeston Carnival.
We continue to invite a variety of speakers to our open forum meetings.
