Achievements
We have previously explored topics such as:
- how to keep warm and safe in our homes
- fire safety
- emergency help and support at times of crisis
- speakers from Severn Trent Water, the police, the Handy Van scheme and many more
What we're doing
We hold 4 open meetings throughout the year. We often have speakers and discuss a variety of topics. There is always time to ask questions and we usually have exhibitions around the venue. We hope to expand and broaden our subjects and welcome any suggestions!
Refreshments are provided free of charge and a buffet lunch is served at the June and December open meetings for a contribution of £3 per member. We are a chatty, friendly bunch of people and will try to accommodate everyone. Please see the Bolsover section of the 50+ Forum for dates and times of our meetings.
Day to day running of the forum is carried out by a band of volunteers elected from the forum at the annual general meeting. We organise activities and information days with the help of our support worker Jo, who is based at Derbyshire County Council's headquarters at Matlock. Free transport is available, from within Derbyshire boundaries, to and from the forum meetings if you have no other means of attending.
