Musculoskeletal health in workplaces

Good musculoskeletal (MSK) health, such as mobility, muscular strength and endurance, is important for employees to enable them to be fit and healthy at work.

One in 8 of the working population report having a MSK problem, such as joint pain or arthritis, with 23% of all working days lost attributable to MSK.

It costs the UK approximately £7 billion a year and 1 in 5 employees are worried they won't be fit enough to continue working in the next year.

Workplaces can take positive steps to promote good MSK health such as prevention, early intervention and adjustments.

This musculoskeletal toolkit by Business in the Community explains why good MSK health is important for workplaces, what can be implemented to prevent MSK problems and how it can be achieved.
