Parents' guide to secondary admissions
This guide is designed to give you all the information you need to apply for a place for your child at secondary school if they are due to start in autumn 2017.
Letter from Councillor Jim Coyle
Going up to "big school" is a huge step for any child. As a parent you play a vital part in helping your son or daughter adjust to this important milestone in their educational journey.
By now, you'll have had some thoughts about the school you'd like your child to attend. This guide is designed to help you through the process so it's as simple as possible.
It's easiest to apply for a school place online (opens in a new window) where you'll find information, support and advice. Further details of this very easy way to apply for a secondary school place are in this section.
You can also Call Derbyshire from 12 September 2016 on tel: 01629 533190 to make a telephone application.
If for some reason you are unable to make an application either online or by telephone, call us on tel: 01629 537479.
We're keen to make sure the transition to secondary school is a positive experience for your child and lays firm foundations for a bright future for them.
We hope this guide is useful. See our apply for a school place section for further information or call us on tel: 01629 537479.
I wish you the very best and hope your family enjoys taking this next step together.
Councillor Jim Coyle
Cabinet Member for Children and Young People
